Heather Moraitis and John Rodstrom spoke to the Galt Mile Community Association about why they are running for city commissioner and why they should be elected. Both are candidates on the November 3 ballot for the vacancy of District 1 City Commissioner, because John Herbst, the current commissioner, resigned. The charter mandates a special election to fill the remaining two years of the term. The newly elected commissioner will be sworn-in as soon as the election results are certified.
This is an important election for both the city and the Galt Mile as there are many issues facing our city, including future development.
Both candidates will appear at a candidates’ forum on Wednesday, September 23 at the Beach Community Center. The event begins with pizza and refreshments at 5:45; the formal program begins at 6:30. Voters can hear from both candidates and ask questions. The forum is being sponsored by the Council of Fort Lauderdale Civic Associations.
