I want to personally congratulate our very own Broward County Library (BCL) named Florida’s 2026 Library of the Year by the Florida Library Association (FLA). BCL earned top statewide recognition for innovative services, community engagement, and commitment to equity and access. A tremendous and resounding thank you to our dedicated Broward County library staff for their commitment to service in our community.

Fred Nesbitt, president of the Galt Mile Community Association, presented a special recognition award to Nancy Seltzer and Justin Bartholomew of S&B Realty. They were recognized for their support and leadership of the annual Thanksgiving food drive, and the holiday Toys for Tots campaign. This year, a record amount of food and toys were collected from residents of the Galt Mile Community Association member buildings.

Nancy and Justin were also recognized for their overall support and participation in the Galt neighborhood, helping make The Galt a vibrant neighborhood. S&B Realty is located on the Galt at 3924 N Ocean Blvd. They have always been active participants in our neighborhood and an outstanding business partner with us.

We look forward to the 2026 food and toys for tots’ drive. The challenge this year is to exceed the donations last year and make this year the best ever – for the generosity of the Galt residents, but especially for those in need of food and children receiving toys during the holidays. I know S&B Realty is ready – and I know The Galt is ready.

Six EV charging stations have been installed in the south and north city parking lots along Galt Ocean Drive. These new stations are pat of the total renovations of the two parking lots. Both were resurfaced, repaired and improved drainage, and lighting added.

The stations are Level II, 40 amp, where a 4-hour charge provides sufficient charge. The cost is $5 per hour, payable through the city’s ParkingMobile app, or by purchasing a sticker for $50 a monthly EV charging permit which is valid at all Fort Lauderdale city EV charging stations. Click here to see the instructions about EV charger usage. For general information about EV charging and obtaining permits, click here.

The Galt Mile Community Association expresses it thanks to the city for their commitment to placing EV charging stations on the Galt Mile and for the improvements in the two city parking lots. The next project is the Galt Ocean Drive Safety Improvements project, which will hopefully begin this summer.
