Six EV charging stations have been installed in the south and north city parking lots along Galt Ocean Drive. These new stations are pat of the total renovations of the two parking lots. Both were resurfaced, repaired and improved drainage, and lighting added.

The stations are Level II, 40 amp, where a 4-hour charge provides sufficient charge. The cost is $5 per hour, payable through the city’s ParkingMobile app, or by purchasing a sticker for $50 a monthly EV charging permit which is valid at all Fort Lauderdale city EV charging stations. Click here to see the instructions about EV charger usage. For general information about EV charging and obtaining permits, click here.

The Galt Mile Community Association expresses it thanks to the city for their commitment to placing EV charging stations on the Galt Mile and for the improvements in the two city parking lots. The next project is the Galt Ocean Drive Safety Improvements project, which will hopefully begin this summer.

Our Broward Commissioner Lamar Fisher (District 4) details all the great activities happening in Broward County in his March newsletter. The “Penny for Transportation,” which took effect on January 1, 2019, funds the Mobility Advancement Program (MAP Broward), a 30-year project-based plan designed to enhance roads, bridges, transit, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and other transportation-related infrastructure. Over the last couple of years this program has really ramped up and provided District 4 with several noteworthy projects

Broward County Transit is currently working on the Transit2040 Vision Plan, a multi-phase strategy to strengthen and enhance the County’s transit system through improved connectivity, expanded access, increased service frequency and hours, new microtransit service zones, and enhanced system amenities. The plan will guide the development of a more reliable, efficient, and future-ready transit network that supports Broward’s growing and diverse communities.

Broward County Small Business Micro-Grant Pilot Program application portal will launch on April 27, 2026. This program provides working capital of up to $5,000 for eligible expense reimbursements to the smallest of small businesses based in Broward County. For more information, please visit OESBD Small Business Micro Grant Program.
