Zagat

Zagat, pronounced za-GAT� (rhymes with the cat), is the brand name of America's leading guides to restaurants and hotels. Zagat Surveys are questionnaires that list the names of hundreds of popular restaurants in a specific market. The questionnaires are used to poll the opinion of diners who frequent these establishments. An independent data processor compiles the votes. The published reviews are based on these surveys, with numerical ratings reflecting the average scores given by all survey participants who voted on each establishment and text based on direct quotes from, or fair paraphrasings of, participants� comments. The resulting data has rapidly become some of the most sought after on the planet. Their restaurant reviews and hotel guides are an integral part of every major travel organization's set of vacation tools. A search will turn up scores of rated restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. The site specializes in Vegetarian Restaurants - WORLDWIDE. Basically, they exist to help overcome the main problem haunting the modern day vegetarian, to find a place to eat. Their international links offer vegetarian establishment and adjunctive reviews all over the world, including Florida. Launched in 2004 and completely driven by user-generated reviews, Yelp offers some of the most candid restaurant reviews available online. Registration is only required to post a review, not read them. A large portion of the more than 39 million reviews posted on the site since its inception are for restaurants. Search restaurants by address, neighborhood, city, or zip code. If you add �cheap lunch�, inexpensive lunch joints in your area will populate the search results. You can further sort those results with specific filters, like delivery, highest rated�Accepts Credit Cards�, Good For Kids,Good for Groups, Takes Reservations, etc. - or by any of the scores of specific food categories. Restaurants are rated using a simple but highly effective 5-star rating system, a cumulative median based on the reviews that have been posted. A search bar located above the reviews enables patrons to further search for specific items using keywords, such as �appetizers.� Yelp offers some of the most specific and detailed restaurant statistics of any website. For instance, the restaurant stats may include the price range (�$� means cheap eats while �$$$$� indicates a splurge), if it is wheelchair accessible and whether or not take-out is available. Charts on each review illustrate the rating distribution (how many reviews gave 5 stars, 4 stars, etc.) and ratings trends according to date. Other features include uploaded photos, integrated Google maps and relevant lists (e.g. �People who viewed this also viewed...�).
