MINUTES OF GMCA ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

JANUARY 15, 2004

President Rozema called the Meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.

Board members present: Rozema, Gill, Ieraci, Glickfield, Freismuth, Guttman, Rossi, Alfano, Gabrielle, Faro, Lodwick, Goldstein, McBride, Hamaker, Pemne, Katkin, Montross, Shultz, Drezios, Casier, Nicholson-Brown, Black, Berkowitz and Baldwin.

Approval of Minutes - Minutes of November 20th and December 18th were unanimously approved.

President Rozema introduced Attorney Mark Bogen, who specializes in Condominium Law. He has a weekly column in the Sun Sentinel and answers questions for those who write in with various condo problems. At present he is trying to formulate a Florida Community Association Coalition, Inc. to obtain benefits that only a group can achieve. He spoke particularly of the group pressing for lower insurance rates throughout the State. The organization is free to join and is asking individuals living in a homeowner or condominium association who will be a representative for their association. Membership forms were distributed to all interested parties. Mr. Bogen had a very interesting question and answer period.

Mr. Gary Seiger updated the information relative to the attempt of unionizing condo employees in his building. The attorney for their association has tried to emphasize that condos are vertical residences and private residences can not be unionized. The problem has been back and forth in the courts and they are hoping for a decision in March.

Beach Renourishment - In progress - Army Corps of Engineers have planned on calendar dates for planned project.

Galt Ocean Terrace - Requested to join GMCA - was pointed out before that they had joined before - however, without voting rights. After a discussion, it was noted that we would abide by the original documents as to boundary lines and they were south of Oakland Park Boulevard - which would disallow their membership.

Newsletter - January issues were delivered today to all buildings. Very well done. Contains some very good general information - especially re: finances and budget for Fort Lauderdale.

Galt Merchants - Mr. Black thanked the GMCA for its contribution of $1,000 for Xmas decorations.

Treasurers Report - The Treasurer, Leah Glickfield, reported $15,074.29 in the Treasury.

THE NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19th, 2004 AT NICKS ITALIAN KITCHEN AT 11:00 A.M.

Meeting adjourned at 12:10 P.M.

Leah Glickfield, Secretary, Pro Tem
