MINUTES OF GMCA ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

JANUARY 16, 2003


President Rozema called the Meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.

Board members present: Rozema, Glickfield, Quinlan, Gill, Guttman, M. Leeds, Rossi, Berkowitz, Goldstein, Hurley, Katkin, Mayer, Alfano, and Schultz. The minutes of the December 16, 2003 Board Meeting were approved.

Commissioner Gloria Katz spoke of several forthcoming projects in our area after she introduced Phillip Thornberg, Superintendent of Parks. He presented architectural renditions of Miles Corner and parks (green space) in our area.

She noted that within two or three weeks they would be constructing a �left turn only� at 35th Street and A1A. There will be new street lights on Oakland Park Boulevard near the bridge. The Miles Corner project will be paid for by the D.O.T. (Department of Transportation). A question and answer period followed. Expressions of gratitude to Commissioner Katz were voiced by everyone.

It was announced that there will be a debate on January 30th at 7:00 P.M. between Jim Naugle and Tim Smith for Mayor as well as Gloria Katz and four other candidates for District 1 Commissioner. It will be held at the Beach Community Center.

Beach Renourishment - Pio (Ieraci) had asked Eric (Berkowitz) to apologize for being absent because he was on the �special ship� with some cabinet aides and divers checking out different phases of the beach renourishment.

Galt Mile Web Site - It was estimated that we would experience about 64,000 hits in January.

Actual number of hits for January was 69,938. [Editor]

Galt Merchants - Mrs. Leeds announced that there would be a meeting of their association re: development in their area. She also noted that since the Community Association was built the property has tripled in price.

Treasurer's Report - The Treasurer, Leah Glickfield, reported $14,826.44 in the Treasury.

THE NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20th, 2003 AT NICK'S ITALIAN KITCHEN AT 11:00 A.M.
