MINUTES OF GMCA ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

OCTOBER 17, 2002


President Rozema called the Meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.

Board members present: Rozema, Glickfield, Quinlan, Gill, M. Leeds, Ieraci, Rossi, Berkowitz, Comas, McBride, Collins, Goldstein, Hurley, Katkin, Mayer, Pollaccia, Pohan, Hamaker, Wolfe and Schultz. The minutes of the September 19, 2002 Board Meeting were approved.

After Marty Sullivan announced the Sun Trust Business Expo for November 7th (4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Beach Community Center) and invited all our neighbors to attend, President Rozema introduced the Honorable Jim Naugle, Mayor of Fort Lauderdale.

Mayor Naugle noted that the property values in our area were at an all time high. He also said that the Galt Mile area contributed about 17% of the revenues for the City of Fort Lauderdale. He announced that the forthcoming Boat Show will be one of the largest ever presented in our area. A brief question and answer period followed.

Margie Andrew, Public Relations Director for Imperial Point Hospital, announced that the celebration of the 40th Anniversary of that hospital would be held on November 2nd from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the front parking lot. There would be refreshments, rides, and entertainment for children.

Jan Edelman from Shooters and Bridge Square noted that Shooters would help facilitate parking and boats docking at the Boat Show.

Ginina Guevara from the Wellness Center of Holy Cross Hospital distributed some special 3-day passes to everyone who requesting them.

It was announced that there will be political debates on January 30, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. featuring Tim Smith, Gloria Katz and Jim Naugle. They will be held at the Beach Community Center.

Cleveland Clinic Update - Plans are being considered for an Emergency Care Service/E.R. and a combination of a spa-type time-share facility to occupy that area.

L'Ambiance - Expected to be ready for occupancy early next year.

Attorney General Bob Butterworth dropped in unexpectedly and spoke briefly about the forthcoming election.

Beach Renourishment - About November of 2003 for our area.

Miles Corner - It is on schedule...improvements should start soon.

Galt Mile Web Site - Eric Berkowitz has done a superlative job in setting up the most informative web site.

Treasurer's Report - The Treasurer, Leah Glickfield, reported $15,491.68 in the Treasury.

THE NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21st, 2002 AT NICK'S ITALIAN KITCHEN AT 11:00 A.M.
