MINUTES OF GMCA ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

DECEMBER 19, 2002

President Rozema called the Meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.

Board members present: Rozema, Glickfield, Quinlan, Gill, Ieraci, Casier, Berkowitz, Freismuth, Nicholson-Brown, McBride, Goldstein, Hurley, Mayer, Tymeson, Pescosolido, Sanders, and Myers. The minutes of the November 21, 2002 Board Meeting were approved.

Michelle Mattox (Legislative Assistant) from Senator Atwaters office spoke on the Senators behalf and apologized for his not being able to attend due to a scheduling conflict. After a discussion by the members about Beach Renourishment, she said that she would ask the Senator to use his influence with the Cabinet members to help this project reach fruition.

City Commissioner Tim Smith dropped in briefly and spoke of his candidacy for Mayor in the February primary election and asked for any assistance.

Jan Edelman (Bridge Square Representative) spoke briefly about help provided by Shooters with guest parking for the Boat Parade.

The $100,000 Question - Ambiance Developers had agreed to give $20,000 to the Galt Mile Community Association. The decision as to its use was deferred to a later date.

It was noted that the cable company had dug up our sidewalks and their supposed reparations are far from satisfactory. In fact, it looks deplorable and the Mile is no longer wearing a Smile.

A1A - City has plans for updating A1A.

Beach Renourishment - Environmental issues are deeply involved now. There is a small war between beachfront owners (and the need for renourishment) and the environmentalists who believe that the Coral Reef will be badly damaged and the ecology will be out of balance. On January 28th the Governor and the Cabinet will have to make a decision as to whether to proceed or not. It was suggested that Eric Berkowitz send a communication, via our Web Site, to the Governor and the Cabinet Members on behalf of the Galt Mile Community Association, expressing our support for this very important project.

Treasurers Report - The Treasurer, Leah Glickfield, reported $14,888.64 in the Treasury.

THE NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 16th, 2003 AT NICKS ITALIAN KITCHEN AT 11:00 A.M.

Meeting adjourned at 12:00 Noon.

Leah Glickfield, Secretary, ProTem
