MINUTES OF GMCA ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

MAY 20, 2004


President Rozema called the Meeting to order at 11:00 A.M.

Board members present: Rozema, Gill, Ieraci, Glickfield, Freismuth, Guttman, Rossi, Lodwick, Hamaker, Katkin, Shultz, Black, Berkowitz, Dally, Kwart, McBride, Collins, Gabrielle and Mayor. (Sun Bank Reps - Marty Sullivan + 1).

Approval of Minutes - Minutes of February 19th and March 18th were approved.

Candidates - There were several candidates present campaigning for offices in the August elections.

  • School Board - Maureen Dineen
  • County Court (District 7) Judge - Eric Beller (represented by Mrs. Beller);
  • County Court (District 7) Judge - Ellen Feld;
  • Circuit Court Judge - Mila Schwartzreich

President Rozema introduced Ellen Bogdanoff, State Representative for our district (District 91). Representative Bogdanoff spoke at length about �Condo Bill� H.1223 and S.2498 and how the last few days of the legislative session were hectic. The bills were in and out of Committee and there were good and bad points. There was a final bill passed which was �watered down�.

she stated some new laws were passed such as (1) A flag should be in every school room (though funding will be a problem). (2) No camcorders allowed in theaters. (3) New formula for taxes - to try and be more fair in property values in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. Should be equitable throughout the state. Placed in the Florida Statutes. She gave her email address and office and phone number in case any of our constituents wanted to contact her.

Marty Sullivan, Manager of Galt Branch of Sun Trust Bank - Announced special arrangements provided for those interested in Home Equity Loans and CDs.

Annual Dues - Motion to have dues remain the same for 2005 - $250 annually. Seconded and approved unanimously.

Salary Survey - President Rozema stated that we would be able to have someone make the Wage Survey of the Association if desired. Motion moved and seconded to complete same. Approved unanimously.

Beach Renourishment - Pio brought up question of the different condo pipes filtering into the ocean. He also said that an informative letter was sent out from the Department of the Army relative to the shore restoration (sand filling) program.

Newsletter Discussion and Galt Mile Web Site - As was proposed in our Board Meeting of March 18th, Eric Berkowitz has the entire newsletter on our web site. Great job, Eric!!

Eyesores on Galt Ocean Drive - Bob related that he received many complaints about illegal real estate signs on public property and black newsletter boxes should be in group at north end of block. Bob reported eyesores to city according to understanding with former Commissioner John Aurelius. Richard Gabrielle made a motion to contact Special Magistrate to prosecute; seconded by Gwilym Lodwick; unanimously passed.

Galt Merchants - It was annnounced that La Reserve Property will be brought before us as plans are more finalized.

Treasurer�s Report - The Treasurer, Leah Glickfield, reported $14,363.65 in the Treasury.

THE NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, June 17, 2004 AT NICK�S ITALIAN KITCHEN AT 11:00 A.M.
