Broward County Update by Commissioner Fisher

Broward County Commissioner Lamar Fisher, in his July newsletter, updates us on all the happenings in Broward County.  “It is mid-summer in south Florida and I hope everyone is safely enjoying the outdoors. Be reminded to stay safe from the heat during this time.”

The Executive Office of the Governor has requested an on-site visit to review the County’s Budget. We have the same objective of being transparent and fiscally responsible with public funds.

Upcoming events include Dine Out Lauderdale.  Starting August 1 through September 30 residents and visitors are encouraged to check out VisitLauderdale.com/DineOutLauderdale, where you can find special, three-course dining options at participating restaurants starting at $35.  Broward County Convention Center is preparing to open, along with the Headquarters Hotel. 

Broward County schools start date is August 11. This year, ​​Florida’s 2025 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will run for the entire month of August. As of July 1, Florida’s annual hurricane sales tax holiday has been replaced with year-round tax exemptions on many disaster preparedness items.
