Our Broward County Commissioner Lamar Fisher reports on the many events taking place in our county, along with improvements. A year ago, this month, Broward County suffered through a thousand-year flooding event that devastated our community. I do believe we are better prepared for larger amounts of rain. The County has made significant investments at the Port, Airport and several unincorporated communities that were mostly affected. This is also a good time to start thinking about Hurricane Season.
Port Everglades has some exciting projects coming up. The Port Sand Bypass Project and the Port Bypass Road Project will both commence this year. One of my very first accomplishments as your County Commissioner was to launch a pilot program that provides a centralized website that allows customers to submit permitting applications and receive approval for both city building permits and County approvals associated with the permits. Fort Lauderdale is part of this program. For more information, please visit Broward.org/ePermits. We also have a new Broward County Citizen Data Portal, providing a single point of access on topics such as public service, environmental data, transportation, mobility advancements and much more.
