Commissioner Fisher Shares Exciting County News

Broward Commissioner Lamar Fisher participated in the ribbon Cutting/grand opening of the new Broward County Convention Center.  The east expansion adds more than 1.2 million square feet to the existing facility, creating one of the most modern and versatile convention spaces in the Southeast.   Along with this event, he celebrated the grand opening of the Convention Center Connector (Bypass Road), directly connecting U.S. 1/Federal Highway to the newly expanded convention center complex. The new roadway makes it easier for customers to reach shops and restaurants while improving logistics for local deliveries.  A new hotel to serve the convention center, the Omni Hotel, will open soon.

In his newsletter. Commissioner Fisher also discusses the hurricane Melissa Caribbean relief efforts.  He also discusses the SoFloGo App – commuters are encouraged to download the SoFloGo App, a regional transportation app that provides real-time information, live directions and alerts, mobile ticketing, and accessibility tools.
