MINUTES OF GMCA ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

MARCH 17, 2005


The Meeting was called to order at 11:00 A.M. by President Rozema.

Board Members present: Rozema, Ieraci, Berkowitz, Glickfield, Gill, Guttman, Rossi, Alfano, Creal, Dr. Drews, Ellis, Freismuth, Gilligan, Hamaker, Herer, Mayor, McBride, Nicholson-Brown, O'Neill and Schultz.

Approval of Minutes - The minutes for February 17, 2005 were approved.

Old & New Business - President Rozema introduced and welcomed David H�bert, Director of the Public Information Department for the City of Fort Lauderdale. Mr. H�bert shared information on the following: Fire-Rescue Bond Issue referendum, Focus on Fort Lauderdale Magazine, City of Fort Lauderdale web site, Homeless Outreach Programs, NEAT (Neighborhood Enhancement Action Team) - Enhanced code enforcement in District III resulted in more than 1,000 code violations having been corrected since December, motorcycle noise annoyance as it relates to quality of life (Chief Bruce Roberts and Major Mary Negrey of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department will speak at meeting scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Beach Community Center). Regarding crime - since the city jail was closed, streamlined police booking procedures served to help keep officers on the street. He also emphasized that he is accessible by telephone or email if anyone has concerns or issues.

Pio Ieraci shared information on CA Day, March 30th. His assistant will be doing a telephone poll of the Associations to determine the number of residents with intentions of traveling to Tallahassee on March 30th. A minimum of 125 residents are required to charter the plane. Pio explained the purpose and importance of the trip.

Opus South - A letter is in the packet with information regarding this project.

Il Lugano - Ralph Hamaker - Project is moving forward; having a minimal impact on the neighborhood. A request has been made to close 32nd and 34th Streets when equipment is being moved.

Cleveland Clinic - Nothing new. An Urgent Care Center would be an unacceptable substitute for an Emergency Room.

Smile on the Mile - New landscaping has been well received. A recommendation was made that Mr. Fortier continue to be retained by the City.

Beach Renourishment - Expect to start pumping sand within next 30 days (April) from Port Everglades to Miami/Dade line, followed by 18 months of observation. Project will add 100 to 200 feet of new beach.

Newsletter Discussion - New issue will be out in a day or so. Suggestion made to update Advisory Board list. Bob Wolfe of the Property Appraiser's Office is sending updated information to newsletter editor.

Galt Mile Web Site - Eric Berkowitz reported there had been 357,249 hits in February, including 16,787 unique site visits. Some of the new items on the site: Traffic will be restricted by construction on Commercial Blvd. at the same time that the Oakland Park Blvd. bridge is being painted; CA Day - March 30th, Condo Ombudsman (personal issues).

Correspondence - There were no new police reports.

Treasurer�s Report - Leah Glickfield reported $15,800.46 in our Treasury.

Other Business Pio explained that the Shore Club officially will be a unionized building after trying every legal path to avoid this. Keep your employees happy!

There was discussion regarding the proposed plans for police patrol on the beach and street. When the contract is received, it will be presented to the Associations.

Next Board Meeting - THE NEXT REGULAR BOARD MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 2005 AT NICK�S ITALIAN KITCHEN AT 11:00 A.M.
